How To Install New Car Tweeters

Tweeters are instruments that are capable of producing very high frequencies. Sometimes it also produces sounds which are the highest limit of the human. The reason for its name is also obtained from high frequency sound from birds. These tweeters are generally attached with the speaker to produce much higher sound. It has to be fixed to the speaker using frequency crossover. This ensures no damage to tweeter since it might get damaged if it receives the same power as that of the speaker. The function of the crossover is to adjust the frequency in the optimal way and also transmit enough power so as to not damage the tweeter. The sound is generally split in such a way between both woofer and the tweeter in such a way that the sound with high frequency is taken by tweeter and the low frequency by woofer. For the connection some basic tools along with a tweeter, crossover cables, speaker, soldering iron and also a screwdriver will be needed. Some knowledge regarding wiring and connection is also important.

The first step is to disconnect the battery of the car. This can be done by removing the negative end. This is done as a safety precaution to prevent any type of short-circuiting while making the wiring.

Secondly, the grill of the speaker is removed. Sometimes based on the car, the panel may also be removed before removing the speaker. After removing the panel or the grill, the speaker is removed. This can be done with the help of screwdriver to remove the screws that are used for supporting the speaker. Then the wiring is disconnected.

The cables that are used for crossover are soldered. Its input leads are soldered to the speaker wires meant for output of the car

Which speakers for my 97 silverado?

I got polk audio db651 6.5" and Polk 5-1/4" 2-Way Speakers
for christmas and a gift card covering installation and harnesses all from circuit city. I went to have them installed today but it ends up none of the speakers will really fit in my truck. my front doors have seperate tweeters so the guy suggested really nice componet speakers for the front doors and to leave the back speakers stock since installation for the back 6X4's is like 100 bucks cuz u gota rip everythign out to get to them. if i add up the speakers and agift cards its around 250+ dollars. I going in tomoro morning to get new speakers and installed them. Does anyone have some suggestions. They have to be from circuit city. I have a Pioneer 4550 HU. Any help would be nice. if u need to know more info let me know.

your sepakers will work. If you currently have tweeters in your truck just make the installer wire your 6.5's. Components would sound nice. I would highly recommend you run an amp ti these speakers. These are higher wattage speakers you'll blow them (overtime) if you underpower them. i believe they are rated at 60 RMS your Pioneer is probably putting out 15-18 RMS
