Any home theater equipment will require basic components such as a video display or TV(large-screen television with a clear picture,a receiver and a speaker system, including a sub woofer, which is the the soul and sound of the theater.The system will require a player to provide the picture and sound. For Ex: DVD and other players are also added to expand the usefulness of a home theater.

LCD and Plasma Screen:

There are many choices to opt for when you look for the video display for your home theater system.

For a proper surround-sound system, you need two to three speakers in front of you and two to three speakers to your sides or behind you.Receivers do the task of taking the audio signal and splitting into multiple channels so that different sound information comes out of the various speakers.
In any sound system, ultimate quality depends on the speakers.Normally Five speakers are required for a surround sound system.There are many types of speaker wire like Speaker Wire , Flat Speaker Wire, or Round Speaker Wire and comes in various sizes.
The surround sound wiring you plan to do can make a big difference on what type you chose to use. The last thing to consider when you start your surround sound wiring is the location of the speakers. The average 5.1 surround sound setup has 6 speakers. A Center Channel, two front speakers, two rear speakers, and one sub woofer. In a 5.1 surround sound system, the '.1' is the sub woofer.The role of the sub woofer is to produce the lowest tones, for ground shaking bass.

Do they sell Home Theater Systems (HTIB) w/ Blue Ray? Or do you have to buy all components separately?

Sony's site looks to only have the compenents sold separately, Blue Ray player and separate Speaker Systems. Been looking at the Sony DAV-HDX500/i, to upconvert DVD's but am thinking of waiting since Blue Ray has won the war and will also upconvert, correct?
