I have 4 quality speakers mounted and wired for a TV setup. What kind of receiver do I need to buy?
I do not care about having bass for 5.1 surround. I just want to hook up 4 speakers through a receiver to my Television. Does that mean I need a receiver that has 4 stereo audio outputs?
any with at least 100watts of power but you will not have 5.1 (the . 1 is the sub) and the 5th speaker is the dialog (your center). your sound will sound spaced out because the speaker will try to decode 5.1 with no center. that's where all your voices come from.
you can get a 4 channel stereo receiver for about 1-200$. make sure it says 100x4 not 4 outputs but 200watts per speaker. Then it will divide 50watts to each and lose quality sound and youll find yourself cranking it up more.
