How good are JBL EON-1500 passive PA speakers?
I am thinking about buying either JBL EON-1500 speakers, Peavey SP2's, or Yamaha S115V's. I like that the JBL's have much less weight. Can anyone tell me if they are any good as a Rock Band PA speaker? I am most concerned with how accurate the vocals will sound in the audience. Thanks.
I have been using the active Eons for years and they sound great. I have heard the passive Eons and they are good too. The vocals will sound good. The bass on the Eons is not really kicking, but you may not care about that or you may have subs.
I hate to generalize, but the bigger, heavier speakers (SP 2's) are a bit better for a rock band but they are a pain to get on the stands.
I like the Yamahas, but that would be my third choice sound wise.
The key to getting good vocals is to have the other instruments under control volume wise. If the guitars and drums are out of control you will have a hard time with the vocals.
