Xbox 360 vga cable for computer monitor sound question?

I want to play my 360 on my computer monitor but how would i hook up my speakers to my 360? They have just the one prong that goes in to the hole, could i plug that right into my 360? Or could i use a pair of headphones with a USB connection?
Also, my monitor can only do 1024 x 768, would it even be worth hooking it up?

You'd most likely have to get some sort of adapter.
